Pilates is a unique approach to excersise that develops body awareness, improves and changes posture and alignment habits whilst increasing flexibilty, strength and ease of movement.
Joseph Pilates
Born in Germany in 1880. He was a sickly child to strengthan his own body he created a body conditioning system. His determination led him to become an accomplished sportsman.

Joseph Pilates
Interned with other German nationals in WW1 he further developed his technique and when he then immgrated to New York, USA in the early 1920s he opened a "body conditioning studio" with his wife Clara. It soon became popular with teh dance community to help them with technique and recover from injuries. The news spread and the public took note and nowadays you can find pilates studios all over the world!
